The Origin of The BOS Garage

How a lifetime of systems work turned into a place where existing systems get tuned, not trashed.

We’ve been in the business operating system world long enough to know what many people won’t say out loud:  “Well, you know, my system ain’t runnin’ like it used to.”

System effectiveness drifts… It happens so slowly that most leaders don’t know it.

Worst of all, organizations don’t have a clue how to measure it, much less  fix it or tune it up without starting over.

Our chief mechanic spent nearly two decades in the trenches as an EOS® Implementer and executive coach — logging over 2,000 full-day sessions with more than 190 leadership teams. He saw firsthand the power of strong culture, structure, accountability, and vision clarity. He still believes in it. We still do.

But along the way, he started seeing something else.

Something quieter.

The Drift No One Talks About

It usually happened in year two. Sometimes three.

The meetings were still happening. The Rocks were still set. The language was in place.

But the spark was gone.
The system was “installed”, BUT, the organization wasn’t running right.

It wasn’t that EOS or any BOS was broken — far from it.
It was that structure clarity had drifted, organizatioanl healty had frayed, and nobody was measuring the right stuff.

So he built the diagnostic tools that were missing:

  • The BITE7™ Framework to measure organizational health, culture, trust, and engagement.
  • The BITE Index™ to show leaders the real ROI potential of their operating system investment.
  • Flower Power™ Framework to visualize roles-based structural clarity across the entire organization.
  • The Structural Clarity Index™
  • STATE™ Strategic Thinking as a Process.

These weren’t “add-ons.” They were diagnostics — the kind of tools a real mechanic uses before reaching for the wrench.

From Implementer to Mechanic

Over time, he realized he wasn’t just helping companies install systems.

He was becoming the guy they called after the installation, when the dashboard lights came on, when things start shaking, squeaking, but nobody knew what they meant.

That’s where the metaphor clicked.

Many people install crate-built BOS engines.

We tune them.

Enter: The BOS Garage

The BOS Garage was born out of a simple insight:

You don’t need a new system. You need a professional tune-up.

The BOS Garage is a place — metaphorical or literal — where leadership teams bring their existing Business Operating System (Pinnacle, Scaling Up™, EOS®, Great Game of Business… and custom builds, doesn’t matter), and we run it through real diagnostics.

We don’t ask you to start over.
We don’t make you throw out the good.
We help you see what’s working, what’s slipping, and where to tighten things up.

And then we do the work with you, showing you how so you can keep it in tune yourself!  Fast, honest, practical!

Why the Garage?

Because people trust garages.

You take your vehicle to someone who knows what they’re doing.
They lift the hood, run diagnostics, give it a once-over, and get you back on the road — stronger than before.

That’s what we do with business operating systems.

That’s what we do at The BOS Garage.
